“Pride beyond measure”, says Janja after meeting between Lula and Trump

The first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, used her Instagram profile to comment on the president’s (PT) with (Partido Republican), at the White House, on Wednesday (May 7). She said she felt “immeasurable pride” from the PT member.

“It really moves me to follow your tireless work for the advancement of our Brazil and the defense of our sovereignty”Janja wrote on .

“Your steps come from afar, they carry the strength of a fighting people, and you will continue treading a beautiful path, always with faith in life, dialogue, equality and peace. You are an immense statesman”declared the first lady.

Lula and the President of the United States met for around 3 hours. No formal agreement was signed, but the PT member said he left “very optimistic” of the meeting.

The Brazilian government had 3 main objectives:

  • reduce the risk of new North American tariffs on Brazilian products;
  • expand bilateral cooperation in combating organized crime;
  • advance negotiations on critical minerals.

There was no formal conclusion on any of the topics, but working groups were created to continue negotiations.
