Spanish club punished Uruguayan midfielder and French midfielder for physical disagreements in consecutive training sessions in Madrid
This Friday (May 8, 2026) the players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni for physical confrontations during the Spanish team’s training. The club imposed a fine of R$500,000 on each athlete.
The Uruguayan midfielder and the French midfielder were involved in disagreements on 2 consecutive days. On Wednesday (May 6), Valverde and Tchouaméni clashed after a dispute during training. Teammates had to intervene to separate the 2 players.
On Thursday (May 7), a new confrontation took place at the club’s facilities. Valverde claimed that Tchouaméni leaked information about the previous fight to the press. The argument escalated. According to the Spanish press, the Frenchman threw a punch at the Uruguayan, who fell and hit his head.
The Uruguayan midfielder was taken to hospital. He received stitches and a head injury was found. Valverde will be away from activities for 10 to 14 days.
Real Madrid opened an internal disciplinary process to investigate the events. According to a statement from the Spanish club, the athletes expressed regret and made themselves available to accept any punishment determined by the club.
The fine imposed on each athlete is equivalent to R$2.9 million. The club concluded the internal procedures with the application of financial sanctions.
Valverde will not play the classic against on Sunday (May 10). If the game ends in a draw, Barcelona will win the title.
