When will it finally be warm? Forecasts all in blue
. After a sunny and warm May weekend, there came a significant cooling. Initially, forecasts indicated that it would last several days, but the latest weather models show that there may be more cold days. According to the portal tanipogoda.pl, cold, arctic air has begun to flow over Poland, which will dominate the weather in the coming days. The beginning of the week will begin with frost in many regions of Poland. Gardeners warn to take care of young seedlings and put agrotextile covers on the most sensitive plants. The coldest weather is expected to be in the north-east of Poland, where frosts may reach up to 2 meters. On Tuesday, May 12, there will still be frosts over most of the country, and there will be sleet and rain in mountainous areas. Up to 10 centimeters of snow may fall on the highest mountain peaks.
is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13. On the name day of Serwacy, one of the cold gardeners, temperatures may drop even to minus 5 degrees Celsius at ground level. The cold weather will last at least until May 15, i.e. until cold Zośka. Measurements indicate that average temperature readings for May 2026 may be up to 10 degrees Celsius lower than normal.
Dangerous weather will return to these areas. Thunderstorms may occur here
. In some areas of Poland it may become dangerous. IMWM indicates that on Monday, May 11, storms are expected in the following voivodeships: Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Greater Poland, Łódź, Masovian, Lublin, Lower Silesian, Opole, Silesian, Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpackie. Please keep an eye on weather alerts. In the above-mentioned areas, temporary traffic disruptions and disruptions to mass events and outdoor picnics may occur.
How to behave during a storm? Take care of your safety
If a storm surprises you outside, find a safe place as quickly as possible, preferably inside a building. If this is not possible, avoid staying under tall trees, masts, lampposts or in open areas where you may become the highest point. Hide in the car, which is a relatively safe haven thanks to the metal body that acts as a Faraday cage. Remember not to touch metal parts of the vehicle. Do not under any circumstances enter or stay near the water, as water is an excellent conductor of electricity.
