China announces that Trump's visit already has a date

The Chinese authorities announced this Sunday that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, will visit the Asian country between May 13 and 15, after having been invited by his counterpart in Beijing, Xi Jinping.

“At the invitation of (Chinese) President Xi Jinping, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will make a state visit to China from May 13 to 15,” confirmed the spokesperson for the Asian Giant’s Foreign Ministry in a message published on social networks.

It had already been announced at the end of March by the White House tenant himself for the same date, after it had to be postponed due to the joint offensive launched by Washington and Israel against Iran on February 28, which made it impossible for the bilateral presidential meeting scheduled for that same March to materialize.

“Our representatives from both countries are finalizing preparations for these historic visits. I am looking forward to spending time with President Xi in what, I am sure, will be a monumental event,” the Republican magnate said even then.

Dating in South Korea and Japan

However, on the eve of the start of the event, a delegation from China, led by the Chinese Vice Prime Minister, He Lifeng, will travel to South Korea in order to “maintain trade consultations with the United States,” according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of the Asian country in statements to the press reported by the Xinhua agency. Already on Wednesday, the US Treasury Secretary will make a stop in Seoul to meet with He Lifeng, before continuing to Beijing for the summit between Trump and Xi.

In it, both parties will address trade and economic issues of mutual interest, after Washington and Beijing reached a tariff truce in the South Korean city of Busan in October 2025. Hours before the announcement of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, Scott Bessent, announced in a message on social networks that he will begin this Monday, May 11, a trip to South Korea and Japan in order to hold a “brief series of meetings.”

Specifically, on Tuesday he will participate in Tokyo in a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, as well as with the Minister of Finance, Satsuki Katayma, among other members of the Japanese Government to discuss economic relations between both countries.

Already on Wednesday, the US Treasury Secretary will make a stop in Seoul to meet with He Lifeng, before continuing to Beijing for the summit between Trump and Xi. “Economic security is national security, and I hope this series of meetings will be productive as we work to advance President Trump’s ‘America First’ economic agenda,” Bessent stressed.
