Feira da Cabra returns to Azinhal with tradition, music and Algarve flavors

Terra de Maio, also known as Feira da Cabra, returns to Azinhal between the 22nd and 24th of May, at the Centro Multiuso, promising three days dedicated to the traditions, gastronomy and culture of the Algarve interior.

The event once again highlights the knowledge and flavors associated with the Algarve Breed Goat, through a program that includes crafts, regional products, taverns, traditional cuisine, animal exhibitions, cheese making, show cooking, folklore, workshops and children’s entertainment.

Throughout the weekend, the Cheese Factory at Centro Multiusos do Azinhal will be in operation, allowing visitors to follow the entire production process until the cheese is sold.

The event will also feature equestrian demonstrations, donkey rides, the Algarve Breed Goat competition and seminars linked to the agricultural sector.

Largest goat cheese is once again the highlight of the event

The official opening of Terra de Maio is scheduled for 6pm on Friday, May 22nd, followed by the opening of a new exhibition dedicated to the Algarvian Goat.

The following day the eighth edition of the Greatest Goat Cheese Algarve will take place, scheduled for 7pm, when the product will be distributed to visitors for tasting.

On the last day of the event, May 24th, the program begins with an Informal Vintage Motorcycle Tour, promoted by the Azinhal Recreational and Cultural Association.

National music livens up the Goat Fair

The musical lineup includes a dance with Ângelo Correia and a concert by Fábio Lagarto on May 22nd.

On the 23rd, Acordeanima will take to the stage, preceding the performance of Bandidos do Cante, winners of the Song Festival.

The closing of the event, on the 24th, will feature a performance by Rancho Folclórica do Azinhal and a concert by singer Miguel Azevedo.

According to the organization, Azinhal once again asserts itself “as the center of all attention during the weekend”.

The initiative is organized by and by the Azinhal Parish Council.
