Vienna – On Tuesday, the Medical Association made an urgent appeal to hospital authorities to provide more basic training places regarding the shortage of doctors. These currently represent a “highly problematic bottleneck,” warned President Johannes Steinhart: “We are clearly running into a supply emergency.” In Vienna alone there would be a lack of over 600 places for the young doctors who are now graduating. The waiting time for this is sometimes one and a half years.
