Obesity is considered one of the major slow-moving pandemics of the 21st century. According to forecasts in the leading medical journal The Lancet from the previous year, without political reforms and measures, around 60 percent of all adults (3.8 billion) and almost a third of all children and young people (746 million) would suffer from either overweight (body mass index of over 25) or obesity (BMI of over 30) in 2050.
