The tension in the studio peaked when Adriana Kneissl broached the topic of obesity statistics in Slovakia. The successful confectioner did not spare criticism and declared without a napkin that up to 60% of Slovaks are overweight.

Adriana Kneissl’s public apology
Her statements immediately started a stormy discussion of fans who did not donate anything to her on the social network. She therefore remained silent for a few days, but subsequently came up with a public apology. “It was not my aim to offend, ridicule or disparage anyone,” she poured ashes on her head on Instagram on Wednesday. She also emphasized that she does not have professional education in the given field. “I also want to make it clear that I am not a doctor or a nutritionist. I shared my personal experience with changing my lifestyle. I was only talking about what I observed in myself, that after losing extra pounds I felt a change in my thinking and energy“, she described her own experience.
At the same time, she acknowledged that some of her statements were not appropriate. “If I spoke about fat brains, it was my, I admit, very unfortunate naming of the influence of obesity on the human psyche. I respect the work of experts in the field of nutrition, exercise, health and psychology. At the same time, I realize that the topic of weight and body is very sensitive for many people,” she explained.
The former presenter tries to find a bright side in the whole incident. “After my words, there was a call for responsibility. And responsibility is, in my opinion, an important topic for all of us. Every person has the right to make decisions about his life, his body and his health according to his own convictions, and this responsibility is on the shoulders of each of us… It turned out that we need to talk about health, food, movement. But you have to speak sensitively,” she concluded.
Fan reactions to the apology
Even a public admission of error did not calm the passions. Many followers were outraged by the way Kneissl delivered her words. In the comments, she was mainly criticized for her lack of sincerity and the fact that she read the statement from paper. “No empathy, authenticity, nothing… expression should come from the heart, not on paper. I think you just want to clear your name,” appeared in one of the reactions.
Criticism was not long in coming, even in other statements where people compared her to a machine. “Just like a robot. No humility, just arrogance,” remarked another of the Slovaks. “You could have apologized sincerely and not read something off the paper. For me, this is an even bigger ‘faux pas’ and a very unfortunate solution to the whole situation,” wrote a disgruntled fan.
Some even went further and advised the former presenter to withdraw from public life permanently. “Feel free to stay in seclusion. I guess the world won’t come crashing down if you don’t spread your wisdom around.” sounded another of the harsh references.
