Writer and journalist was 64 years old
São Tomé journalist and poet Conceição Deus Lima died this Friday, in São Tomé, at the age of 64, family sources told Lusa.
According to her family, the poet from São Tomé, born on December 8, 1961, fell ill early in the morning and was taken to the Dr. Ayres de Menezes Central Hospital, where she ended up passing away at around 7:00 am local time (6:00 am in Lisbon).
Conceição Lima is the most translated name in São Tomé literature, with books and poems in German, Arabic, Spanish, Czech, French, Galician, Italian, English, Shona, Serbo-Croatian and Turkish.
The poet was a founding member of the National Union of São Tomé Writers and Artists (UNEAS) and, in 2021, she was appointed national coordinator, for São Tomé and Príncipe, of the World Poetic Movement.
