LIMA, May 15 (Reuters) – Left-wing candidate Roberto Sánchez secured second place in the first round of Peru’s presidential election, held on April 12, with 100% of the votes counted, according to the official count on Friday, which will put him face to face with Keiko Fujimori in the second round, in June 7th.
The vote count, which lasted a month, sparked allegations of fraud in the politically turbulent country, particularly from right-wing candidate Rafael López Aliaga, who trailed slightly behind Sánchez during much of the counting process.
