Advance sales of coffee from Brazil’s new harvest (2026/27) reached just 16% of the predicted production potential, at a slow pace, as the harvest is just beginning in the largest global producer, the consultancy Safras & Mercado indicated this Friday.
Sales advanced just two percentage points compared to the previous month, progress in line with the percentage observed in the same period last year, but well below the average of the last five years, close to 25%, according to the consultancy.
“Sales of the 2026/27 coffee harvest in Brazil continue at a slow pace, with producers prioritizing the negotiation of available coffee”, highlights Crops & Market consultant, Gil Barabach, in a note.
Sales of the old harvest (2025/26) reached 86% of the production harvested last year, according to the consultancy.
Regarding the start of the Brazilian harvest, Safras & Mercado pointed out that work is progressing “slowly”.
A weekly survey by the consultancy indicates that, as of May 13, 6% of the 2026/27 harvest had been harvested, a lower percentage than that recorded in the same period last year (7%) and also below the average of the last five years for the season (9%).
