The list of those called up for the World Cup will be revealed on Monday (18)
A Santos defeat to Coritiba this Sunday (17) did not shake hope of Neymar in being. Wearing a retro Brazilian jacket, the number 10 spoke to the press after the game at the Neo Química Arena and once again demonstrated confidence in being called up by Ancelotti, who will release the list on Monday (18).
“Obviously it’s my dream, I’ve always made it very clear to you, it’s to be in the World Cup. I worked for it”, said Neymar, explaining afterwards that the jacket was a gift from the son of former English footballer David BeckhamRomeo.
“I told him I was going to use it, that’s why, it wasn’t for anything to send a message. It’s an atmosphere where everyone is waiting for it, everyone is waiting for tomorrow’s call-up. Why not use it? Besides being a player, I want to be there. If I’m not there, I’ll be just another supporter of Brazil”, he commented.
Neymar guarantees that he is physically well and countered criticism that he is not in ideal conditions to go to the World Cup. “There were years of a lot of work, also of a lot of wrong talk about my conditions and what I did. It’s very sad the way people talk about it. I worked hard, quietly, at home, suffering because of what people said and everything worked out. I got to where I wanted in one piece, I’m happy with my performance, with everything I’ve done so far. May tomorrow be God willing”, he declared.
Neymar also commented on the defeat to Coritiba. The admitted that he asked to leave, but reinforced that the technical committee indicated Escobar’s number (31) instead of his for the arbitration.
