Management Nunes buys Palácio dos Correios for R$ 79 million – 05/21/2026 – Panel

The City of will acquire for R$ 79,526,165.31, in Vale do Anhangabaú, in the center of São Paulo.

The mayor’s management (MDB) and the Post Office leadership reached an agreement in a meeting on Thursday (14).

In the building, from 1922, the CET (Traffic Engineering Company), CGE (Climate Emergency Management Center) and SPTrans (public transport management), as well as a Descomplica unit that will operate 24 hours a day.

The idea is for the location to be named SP24, in reference to its uninterrupted operation. The Nunes administration is trying to speed up the works to reopen the space by July.

The location should also serve as a monitoring point for other departments, such as Infrastructure and Works and Subprefectures, responsible for janitorial services.

As it is listed, the city hall will not be able to make changes to the property. The Post Office that operates on site should be maintained, but in a reduced space.

In May 2025, for 15 years. However, the Nunes administration had been trying to buy the building since the last year of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government.

The building, listed since 2012, has 11 thousand square meters.

According to the assignment agreement, the city hall had already been carrying out extensive renovations, estimated at almost R$30 million, and would be responsible for monthly maintenance expenses — something around R$3.5 million.
