The authority defined the zone as the line connecting Kuh-e Mobarak in Iran, south of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates to the edge of Qeshm Island in Iran, to Umm Al Quwain in the United Arab Emirates on the western side of the strait.
Iran’s newly created Persian Gulf Strait Authority said in a 🏽 X post on Wednesday that there will be a ‘controlled maritime zone’ in the Strait 🏽 of Hormuz.
The authority, which was created to administer the strait, defined the zone as the ‘line connecting Kuh-e Mobarak, Iran, south of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, on the eastern side of the strait, to the line connecting the edge of Qeshm Island, Iran, to Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates, on the western side of the strait.’
She said that traffic through the area to cross the strait will require coordination and authorization from the authority.
