Penacova bypasses Volta system with new 3.1 liter bottle

Penacova launched a new 3.1 liter water bottle that is outside the Volta packaging deposit and refund system, thus avoiding the additional fee of 10 cents applied to packaging up to 3 liters.

The news was announced by the brand on social media. “Check out our new 3.1 liter packaging, the most versatile on the market! Use it at your desk, at work or at the gym, it fits in the fridge and you don’t need to pay a deposit to buy it”, wrote the company.

The Volta system currently applies to plastic, metal or aluminum bottles and cans smaller than 3 liters identified with the respective symbol. When purchasing one of these packages, the consumer pays 10 cents more, an amount they can recover later when returning the package to a collection machine.

By opting for a 3.1 liter packaging, Penacova is able to escape the rules currently in force in the Volta system.
