“We’re bringing the war home to Russia, and that’s perfectly fair,” wrote Zelenskyy after the report of the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky “about the use of drones against Russian oil refining and export facilities.” He added that Kyiv is preparing further “far-reaching sanctions” in response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.
According to The Moscow Times, the ASTRA agency, based on an analysis of the video from the Telegram account, marked Exilenova+ as the probable target of the attack the Slavneft-JANOS refinery. Earlier, the governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Yevrayev, reported on the “repulsion of an attack by drones” in the region.
The refinery belongs to the companies Rosneft and Gazprom and processes approximately 15 million tons of oil per year. According to the Vot Tak agency, Ukrainian armed forces have attacked Russian oil refineries at least 158 times since the start of the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine. 24 out of 33 refineries with a capacity of more than a million tons of oil per year were affected.
There were no attacks on refineries in the first year of the warin 2023 there were four, in 2024 there were 34, and in 2025 a total of 88. In 2026, there were 33 of them so far, which is more than in the same period last year (24). According to the Reuters agency, practically in central Russia there is no refinery left with a capacity of more than ten million tons that has not stopped operations as a result of the attacks.
