Palestinian director: “Everything I belong to is constantly being erased”


The Banu Hilal Epos tells of the migration of a Bedouin tribe from Arabia to North Africa, based on historical events from the 11th century. The epic was once widespread throughout the Middle East, but today almost only in Egypt. The Khashabi Theater in Haifa, an experimental theater committed to a free Palestinian society, has now taken up the cultivation of this heritage and is performing its own version in the production by Bashar Murkus at the Vienna Festival.
