Former president of the (Supreme Federal Court), stated this Saturday morning (23) that it is necessary to separate the judgment made by ministers of the Supreme Court from the institutional role of the Court.
He did not mention former colleagues by name, but his speech referred to revelations about ties published in the press between the company and ministers.
“Is there any Supreme Court decision favoring Banco Master? Not that I know of,” Barroso told journalists after participating in an event by the Esfera group in Guarujá (SP).
“Nothing wrong happened in the Supreme Court’s decisions on this matter or any other.”
The former minister, who left the STF in October 2025, stated that it is necessary “not to let oneself be contaminated by one episode or another” and said that the role of the court “has not been shaken in the slightest”.
Barroso also stated that “there is a set of facts that led to a negative perception”, but that it is “necessary not to pre-judge and wait for the investigations to end”.
Asked about the topic, the former minister said that the idea of a code of ethics, which divides the STF, “is good and important”, but that it is necessary to know how to materialize it.
