President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) appears better positioned than Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) to receive the votes of centrist voters, shows the survey released on Friday (22).
At the same time, the pre-candidates who present themselves as “third way” still skate in the segment of more moderate Brazilians.
On an ideological scale of 1 (extreme left) to 7 (extreme right) of those surveyed, those at level 4 (center) give Lula 29% of voting intentions, against 20% for Flávio.
The senator is different from his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), but the numbers show that success has been limited so far.
Ronaldo Caiado, who belongs to the PSD, a party that defines itself as centrist, obtained just 6% in this segment. The former governor of Goiás had a career on the right, but he is another who has been trying to moderate his speech and seek to broaden his electoral appeal.
Avante’s candidate, best-selling writer Augusto Cury is the one who has most openly defined himself as a centrist candidate. This is because it reaches 6% among voters in this segment. In the total electorate, he got 2%.
Other pre-candidates, such as Renan Santos (Missão), with 5%, and Romeu Zema (Novo), with 4%, also obtain modest ratings in the most centrist segment of the electorate.
