The report spoke to seven businesspeople, four under reservation, during this weekend in Guarujá (SP).
Almost everyone stated that the revelations impacted confidence in Bolsonaro’s son — if not for a moral issue, because of the impression that the amateurism of the episode signals that he would not have the capacity to lead a national project.
“Many things will still appear. Things are coming in doses”, stated Lírio Parisotto, founder of Innova. “It’s total promiscuity, right? It’s not cool for the President of the Republic to have that profile.”
A businessman said he believes that Flávio will be more popular in the polls, as a large part of the population (36%) has not yet heard about the case.
Three main ideas were repeated among the sources covered by the report. The first is that Flávio, like the president, has not yet presented an effective plan for the economy, which proposes solutions to guarantee fiscal balance.
“Just carrying the surname Bolsonaro doesn’t seem like the best option for Brazil, right?” said Parisotto. “I don’t see any government plan from him, nothing new appears. I would like someone to be elected who has a management plan for the country, for our economy, our legislation, our Social Security.”
Bolsonaro’s son has been trying to get closer to Faria Lima, but has not yet announced which proposals for the economy will be part of his government plan. , Flávio’s team plans fiscal adjustment measures, but did not publicize them because they considered that the disclosure would offer political ammunition to the PT member, who could talk about losses for retirees and a reduction in funds for health and education.
Businessmen are betting that new scandals involving the two main candidates will appear and that the irregularities in the Master case involve figures from the right and the left.
Most of them expressed their desire for a third way candidate, even though the majority believe that this will not be feasible in the current scenario.
“I pray every day for a third way,” said Carlos Sanchez, from the EMS group. “Both one side and the other are good candidates, but I think Brazil deserves a change.”
Parisotto, from Innova, prefers the former governor. Asked about the viability of the pre-candidate, he stated: “I think the drums are still being tuned. A lot of things are going to happen.”
Sanchez said that the business community is anxious, but that it is still too early to make predictions about what will actually happen in the elections. “A lot of water is still going to pass under this bridge. Lula, six months ago, was elected, then it got bad for him, now he’s good again. Tomorrow we don’t know.”
According to him, the revelation of the audios impacted the mood of businesspeople in relation to Flávio’s pre-campaign. “I think there was more [impacto] in the mood. Not that they will change their vote because of that, because that’s what I said, both sides have problems”, he stated.

In the first round, Flávio fell from 35 to 31 percentage points, while Lula went from 38 to 40, compared to the survey released on the 16th. In the second round, the PT member has 47% of voting intentions and the senator, 43%. Before, they were tied. The margin of error is two percentage points.
For João Camargo, from the Esfera group, Bolsonaro’s son should recover over time. “Datafolha really is photography. We have to calmly analyze the film if Flávio will decant and purify it. Now, you have Lula, who is a great leader, and the left has retrograde ideas, and you have Flávio, who has innovative ideas”, he said.
Camargo stated that it is very difficult to “want Faria Lima to be progressive” and that the preference there is for former governors Zema and Flávio Bolsonaro. He, however, rejects the chance of victory of a third way.
“Brazil only had four leaders who put 100,000 people on the streets. Getúlio, Brizola, Lula and Bolsonaro. There is no room for a third way. And another thing, Valdemar cannot create a third way [via]because Bolsonaro won’t let it.”
Camargo recognizes that the revelation of the audios was bad, but states that politicians “do bad things and good things”. “I think this Flávio thing, if that’s all it is, will be over in 15 days,” he said.
“Of course, the businesspeople I spoke to didn’t like hearing this news. And I think [para lidar com] the narrative lacked an intelligence structure.”
