The cult Hungarian series Linda is one of the most successful television phenomena of its time, on which new generations are still growing up. It was born in the head of György Gát, a directing student at the time (Nóra Görbe’s first husband, editor’s note), a big fan of Bruce Lee, who wanted to bring an original combination of action and humor to the screens.
The television management of the project initially did not believe and it was given only a minimal budget, but already the first episodes convinced of its enormous potential, writes .
The character of the intrepid policewoman was tailor-made for the actress Nóra Görbe (69), which immediately made her an idol. Her unmistakable image included a wide skirt, mastery of martial arts and riding the legendary Czechoslovak Jawa Babetta (colloquially babeta) moped. For maximum believability, the actress trained hard in taekwondo for 14 months before filming, and an expert police consultant oversaw the realistic investigative procedures in the script.
The original format faced the displeasure of critics, but it was an absolute triumph among viewers. Between 2000 and 2002, he saw two more seriesbut they no longer achieved the huge success of the original ones from the 80s.
From great fame to life’s tragedy
First husband Görbe became the creator and director of the series György Gát himself. Their 16-year marriage, which eventually ended in divorce, produced two children – daughter Anna and son Márton. She found happiness and inner peace only by the side of her second husband – dentist Péter Ormos, who was later diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The actress showed a huge sacrifice – she completely withdrew from public life for six years in order to be his support and take care of him in the most difficult moments. After his death in August 2016, she fell into deep sadness and closed herself off from the world for a long time. Finally, she gradually found comfort and strength to go on through yoga and spiritual journeys to India.
In addition to acting, she also devoted herself to music for a while. Especially in the 90s, she resonated on the Hungarian market with the release of several pop albums. Today, however, he enjoys more peace outside the spotlight and appears on screens only sporadically – mostly in smaller roles or as a guest in TV shows. What does Nóra Görbe look like today?
