Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) described as fabrications that he is preparing the reconstruction of the government and that Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) now wants to leave for the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS). “If the minister has such an ambition in the future, I wish it to him. It is the dream job of every financial master, but not now. Now the minister has to draw up the budget for 2027 and fight for its approval,” the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic said on the social network.
If they are to talk about personnel issues in connection with the NBS in this government, according to Fico, they must wait for the definitive criminal verdict on its current governor, Petr Kažimír. “I will not comment on the substance of his criminal prosecution, which is as strange as against all of us in the years 2020 to 2023. However, if the court of appeal upholds the first-instance conviction, I cannot imagine that he could be reinstated as governor. This is an economic crime,” said Fico.
Under all circumstances, as Prime Minister, he wants to focus primarily on securing a functional government majority and its readiness to approve the state budget for 2027.The removal of a member of the government purely for party reasons can lead to destabilization and the loss of the government’s majority in parliament,” the prime minister added.
