The number of complaints related to the 2026 World Cup album grew 220% in São Paulo, according to . The incidents involved the sale of stickers on social networks, including scams, the sale of counterfeit products, misleading advertisements and delivery problems. Complaints went from 34 in April to 109 in May.
Procon-SP warns that many consumers end up purchasing stickers, albums and promotional kits on marketplaces, social media profiles or messaging groups without checking the seller’s reliability. In this sense, it is necessary to check the points of sale authorized by the company responsible for selling the album and stickers.
Product issues
There are other occurrences besides those related to the World Cup album. Since March, Procon-SP has registered 238 complaints involving products, offers or services related to the World Cup. Records went from 19 complaints in March to 63 in April and reached 156 in May, demonstrating growth in demand and problems faced by consumers.
Among the main problems reported are:
- non-delivery or delay in delivery of products (115 complaints);
- unfulfilled offer or misleading sale (34 complaints);
- product delivered incompletely or differently than ordered (24 complaints).
The complaints involve promotional offers for products linked to the sporting event or the time of the sporting event, such as televisions, clothing, household appliances, electronics and collectible items.
Consumer guidelines
Procon-SP recommends some precautions before making purchases related to the World Cup:
- research the reputation of the store or seller;
- be wary of offers priced well below the market;
- check information such as CNPJ, address and service channels;
- save advertisements, payment receipts and conversations held;
- check delivery time, exchange policy and offer conditions;
- When purchasing figurines and collectible products, check that the item is official and that the supplier is clearly identified.
Consumers who experience problems can file a complaint through official Procon-SP channels.
