Athens – The founding of the new political movement “Elpida gia ti Dimokrati” (Hope for Democracy) by Maria Karystianou has triggered a wave of controversial reactions in the Greek political scene. Representatives of almost all parties expressed sharp criticism of the new political project over the weekend and accused Karystianou, the mother of a victim of the Tempi train accident in 2023, of “populism without a program” and an unclear ideological positioning.
