Pre-candidate stated that he cannot “give luck to bad luck” and associated risk with the political climate
The pre-candidate for President Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) stated this Friday that he started wearing a bulletproof vest for safety reasons. The statement was published in a video on social media.
“A lot of people ask why I’m wearing a vest. There are workers who wear uniforms and helmets. Unfortunately, I know what they’re capable of,” said the senator.
During the recording, Flávio mentioned the attack suffered by the former president Jair Bolsonaro in 2018 and stated that he does not intend to “give luck to bad luck”.
“They already tried to do it with my father, they succeeded. I can’t give it to bad luck”, he declared.
The senator also stated that he faces “hatred”, “attacks” and “dehumanization”, in addition to saying that political opponents try to intimidate him.
After publication, the video resonated with allies and critics on social media. During content analysis, commentator Elias Tavares stated that the image of the vest works as an element of political marketing.
According to him, the strategy seeks to reinforce the idea of a constant threat against right-wing figures and recover the memory of the attack against Jair Bolsonaro during the 2018 presidential campaign.
The commentator also assessed that the piece was produced for digital engagement, but warned of the risk of exaggeration in communication, comparing the video to strategies adopted by the influencer and businessman Pablo Marçal in recent campaigns.
The publication occurs amid changes in Flávio Bolsonaro’s communications team, following criticism from allies regarding the handling of recent crises involving the senator’s campaign.
