A complaint of an influencer about the disappearance of a luxury watch during a security procedure at Viracopos Airportin Campinas, a city in the interior of São Paulo, was investigated by the State Civil Police as a theft.
According to Amanda Castanha, the accessory, valued at R$ 28 thousand, disappeared after a luggage inspection held at the terminal last weekend. Estadão contacted the airport administration, which did not return contact. The space remains open for demonstrations.
The object would have disappeared on Saturday morning (23)after Amanda disembarked from a flight from the United States and went through the inspection area for a new national boarding.
In a note, the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo informed that the case was forwarded to the 4th Tourist Assistance Police Station (Deatur)which requested images of the terminal for analysis.

In videos published on social media, the influencer stated that she was carrying the watch in a box that was kept in the bag, along with other jewelry. She reported that the metal detector went off during the procedure and that she was subjected to a sequence of searches while her luggage was being x-rayed without direct supervision.

Amanda also said that her husband noticed the moment when an employee had drawn another agent’s attention to the tray with the couple’s belongings. According to the report, the employee left the place for a few seconds with the tray out of their field of vision before replacing it in the equipment.
“Normally what happens, they can run the bag through the X-ray and if they find something strange there, they call the owner of the bag and open it in front of her. But they never did that. They ran my bag through the X-ray while they were searching me”, he reported.
A influencer stated that she only noticed the object was missing when she arrived home. According to her, the box in which the watch was kept was open inside the bag and the other accessories had been tampered with.
“I tried to see if this (the box) opened easily. Anyway, we hit the bag, walking, right? […] This doesn’t open easily, it only opens if I click,” she said.
