Former councilor Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, has a psychological profile with traces of perversity and takes pleasure in causing suffering in young children, said this Wednesday (27) psychiatrist Rafael Bernardon Ribeiro.

The professional is the first witness to be heard in the of the death of 4-year-old boy Henry Borel, who died in March 2021.

“I was able to see a pattern of child abuse. There is a pattern of perversity in inflicting pain on children.”said the doctor.

In addition to Jairinho, Henry’s mother, is a defendant for the death. According to the police and the Public Ministry, the child died after being attacked by Jairinho, and the mother was allegedly negligent.

Graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP), Bernardon Ribeiro was hired by Henry’s father, Leniel Borel, to draw up the psychological profile of the defendants in the case. At the jury, he was called by the prosecution for prosecution. Leniel sits on the jury as an assistant prosecutor.

Other child victims

To draw up the psychological profile, Bernardon Ribeiro did not have direct contact with the defendants, and analyzed statements, interviews given by them and talked to people who lived with both of them.

The psychiatrist reported having sought information from two women who had relationships with Dr. Jairinho and their children.

One of them, Natasha de Oliveira Machado, according to Bernardon, was Jairinho’s lover and manipulated with the promise of engagement and marriage. He reported that the woman’s daughter, just over 3 years old at the time, said her arm was sprained by her mother’s boyfriend and was told by him to say that she had been injured in a jiu-jitsu class.

On another occasion, he continued in the report, he suffered a session of sinking in a swimming pool.

Another case he became aware of was that of Débora Mello Saraiva’s son, who had a fractured femur, the thigh bone, in addition to sessions of trampling and having the head covered.

“A pattern of repetition that leads to this profile that the person takes pleasure in causing pain, torture, and has a target audience of young children”, the psychiatrist confirmed.

Defenses repudiate

Still during the testimony, Jairinho’s lawyer, Rodrigo Faucz, distributed a press release in which he criticized the testimony.

“The hearing of a psychiatrist who, due to medical ethical guidelines, could not even speak about people who were not interviewed is absurd,” he writes.

“This is a person who did not witness, was not interviewed and was only hired by the prosecution to express his personal impressions”, he added.

According to Faucz, the judge herself prohibited, during the first stage hearing, the psychiatrist from being heard. “An alien person pays to confirm the accusatory version”concluded.

Regarding Monique Medeiros, Rafael Bernardon commented that the woman, when informed about the attacks suffered by her son, “had no instinct to protect him”. The police investigation shows that Monique knew about the violence.

During the testimony, Monique Medeiros’ defense intervened and asked for the testimony to be challenged, also maintaining that the doctor could not draw up a psychological profile of the defendants without having interviewed them. Judge Elizabeth Machado Louro, who presides over the Jury Court, denied the request.

Judgment

For this Wednesday, the testimony of doctor Maria Cristina de Souza Azevedo is still awaitedfrom Barra D’Or Hospital, who helped Henry on the day of his death.

According to the testimony of police chief Henrique Damasceno, which was heard the day before, Jairinho pressured the hospital to release the boy’s body without carrying out an examination.

The presence of the doctor is at the request of the judge of the case. Other witnesses scheduled for the day are coroner Luiz Airton Saavedra, who analyzed the cadaveric reports, and coroner Luiz Carlos Leal Prestes, from the Civil Police.

Police see hoax

Delegates Edson Henrique Damasceno, then head of the police station that investigated Henry Borel’s death, and Ana Carolina Medeiros were interviewed this Tuesday (26).

In his testimony, Damasceno stated that the defendants’ initial version, that the child had died after falling from a bed, was part of a “rehearsed farce”.

He further detailed that messages recovered from the cell phone of Henry’s nanny, Thayná de Oliveira Ferreira, led the police to discover and confirm that the mother knew about the attacks.

Jury

Initially, Jairinho and Monique had the same lawyer. But currently, everyone has a defense team. In total, 27 witnesses for the prosecution and defense were called. The jury’s decision will be made by seven jurors. The initial expectation was that the trial would last around five days.

Dr. Jairinho is accused of the following crimes: qualified homicide by cruel means that made it impossible for the victim to defend himself; three tortures carried out against children; procedural fraud; coercion during the process.

Monique is responsible for seven crimes, including homicide, coercion during the process, torture and procedural fraud.
