Deputy Leo Prates (Republicanos-BA) expected 380 votes in favor, but the proposal was approved with 472 votes
The rapporteur of the deputy (Republicanos-BA), he stated, this Wednesday (May 27, 2026), to Poder360 that the result of the vote exceeded the expectations of the political articulation of the proposal. According to him, the initial forecast was around 380 votes in favor, but the text was approved with 472 votes against 22.
Prates attributed the score to the dialogue built in the Chamber of Deputies and praised the performance of the president of the House, (Republicanos-PB), whom he called “great responsible” for conducting the vote.
“The vote surprised any expectations”he declared. The deputy said that the result demonstrates Congress’s ability to overcome partisan differences on issues related to the population. “The Chamber of Deputies today demonstrates that it is possible to put party differences aside when people’s lives are at stake”said Prates.
The rapporteur also said he was proud of the deputies’ work in approving the proposal and said he hoped the measure would contribute to “a better future for the Brazilian people”.
