Anna Malova († 27) she was looking forward to the arrival of her second child. However, happy moments in the maternity ward turned into a fight for life in a second. The paramedics should have given her a fatal dose of another drug. While her newborn daughter miraculously survivedthe young mother experienced unimaginable torment before her death, reports the newspaper.
A huge accident happened in one of the Russian hospitals, where the woman in labor suffered severe convulsions, severe brain damage and up to four heart attacks in total. All this after staff repeatedly injected her with a powerful blood-clotting drug instead of the planned epidural.
The doctors immediately decided on a caesarean section, thanks to which the baby survived. However, Anna fell into a deep coma after a series of botched injections and died shortly afterwards. Even before losing consciousness, she was texting her friends in increasing desperation as the painkillers weren’t working at all. “I’m in crazy pain, I can’t take it anymore… This is a nightmare,” she wrote to them, feeling so helpless.
Even so, she tried to fight. “I’ll try to survive,” she said in one of her last reports. He was survived by his deceased wife loving husband Ivan (36) and two small children – a five-year-old son and a recently born girl named Arina.
The investigation pointed to a fatal error
Criminalists and medical experts initially worked with the version that the mother had a rare and rare allergic reaction to epidural anesthesia. The subsequent investigation revealed the shocking truth. The mother-of-two was mistakenly given repeated doses of tranexamic acid, which is normally only used to stop massive bleeding and manage blood clots.
Not only did this drug not relieve her pain, it caused a toxic reaction in her body that led to the aforementioned coma and four consecutive cardiac arrests. In connection with the tragedy, criminal prosecution for medical negligence has already been initiated. However, the investigators have not succeeded so far to identify the specific doctor who applied the wrong substance to the patient’s body.
The devastated husband was left alone with the children
Ivan Malov is now raising two small children only with the help of his mother Valentina. “You were the best thing in my life, you gave me beautiful children. I miss you so much, I want so badly to come home, hug you, kiss you… I want this terrible dream to end. To open my eyes and you would be lying there, looking at me and smiling, but I, unfortunately, do not wake up. Every morning I open my eyes and you’re not next to me,” wrote the widower in an emotional confession on the social network.
In addition to his own grief, however, the unhappy father has to cope with the most difficult fatherly duty, which is to explain the situation to his son. “Today will be a difficult day for me. When I collect my thoughts, I want to tell my 5-year-old son that his mom left. I have no idea how to tell him.” he admitted sadly.
The legal representative of the grieving family, Danil Berdičevskij, confirmed that the key to achieving justice will be the unequivocal determination of the culprit. “We are waiting for the main, second forensic autopsy, which will answer our most important question – whether the actions of the doctor and paramedics were directly responsible for Anna’s death.” he emphasized.
