In addition to the image, the panel contained phrases provocative to Paraguay. One of the messages said: “Brazil commanded and dismantled in the field and in politics” Bolsonaro’s image also appeared with a balloon written: “This is Brazil! Respect!“. There was also reference to the phrase: “The hexa is ours!”.
Protesters stepped on the panel
In the video, you can see people gathered around the structure. Part of the group shakes the panel until it drops. After the fall, protesters continue to step on the equipment.
According to the Paraguayan press, the Ciudad del Este Publicity Chamber stated that there is evidence of unauthorized manipulation via hacker attack on the screen where the messages were displayed. The agency said that the action would have been carried out by people outside the operating company and members of the local advertising sector.
The City of Ciudad del Este said it will request clarification from the companies Fast Print and Publimix, identified as responsible for the advertising structures installed in an area under the control of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications of Paraguay.
The Paraguayan president, Santiago Peña, repudiated the display of the panels in a publication on the social network X. “We deplore the offensive posters installed in Ciudad del Este. This type of action does not contribute to the understanding or respect that should prevail among peoples.“, he wrote.
Peña also stated that he ordered the removal of the pieces. He also said that “advance” from Paraguay “maybe it bothers some”but it motivates the country to continue growing.
