In the debate within the coalition about extending compulsory military service, the SPÖ is calling for a “centre plan”. Of the three parties, “two of them would face each other with maximum demands,” said the SPÖ, referring to the ÖVP and NEOS to the APA. The SPÖ is now proposing not to extend military service, but rather to “make it more attractive”. In order to strengthen the militia, the mandatory two-month exercises are to be reintroduced.
