Trump cancels shows for the 250th anniversary of the USA and announces rally

North American president said he doesn’t want “talentless singers”; event on June 24 was boycotted by artists

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), on Thursday (June 4, 2026) canceled the shows at the festival, which celebrates the country’s 250th anniversary. Instead, he announced that he will “the biggest rally ever”. The event will be held on June 24, in Washington.

Trump said his speech will be one of the festival’s main attractions. The US president also announced a concert by country musician Lee Greenwood and the participation of Christopher Macchio, who will sing “Nessun Dorma”, “Hallelujah”, “Hail Mary”, “God Bless America”among other songs. The U.S. Army band and choir will also perform.

“We don’t want singers with no talent, but with exorbitant fees to make you sleep, we have already told them all to stay at home”Trump said on his profile on the Truth Social platform.

The festival was announced as a major national celebration and initially featured performances by artists such as Vanilla Ice, Martina McBride, The Commodores, C+C Music Factory, rapper Young MC, Morris Day, Bret Michaels, Flo Rida and Fab Morvan, from the group Milli Vanilli.

Some of the artists stated that they did not know that the festival would have a political connection. Morris Day denied participation, and Young MC said he was not informed about this context. Others, like The Commodores, Martina McBride and Bret Michaels, also their presentations.

The event began to be questioned due to its political association and the financing model, which involves public and private resources, including companies aligned with Trump and government contractors.
