Milan Ondrík’s intense period: He hit me emotionally! The circle of some period is closing

The movie Bojovník will come to cinemas in August 2026. The film, which entices viewers to enter the world of MMA, one of the most prominent phenomena of today, will lure Slovaks with an extraordinary cast. The main character is played by Milan Ondrík, he will be joined in other roles by Eliška Balzerová, Hana Vagnerová, Ján Jackuliak, Marián Mitaš, Martin Finger, Adam Vacula, Pavel Rímský and others.

The main character is Pavel “Hoff” Hoffmeister played by Milan Ondrík, he is a former European champion and Olympic medalist in boxing, who after years decides to return to wrestling. This time, he is not waiting for a familiar ring, but an MMA cage, new rules, a feared opponent and, above all, a past that can no longer be run away from.

For Milan Ondrík, what makes the film Bojovník different from his previous projects? “For me, it’s different in that it’s a completely different character than I’ve played so far, a completely different human destiny. I try very hard to differentiate him, like every character. And this one was interesting because it dragged on with me for a very long time. At least a year since I knew I was going to play it, since it was announced to me after the camera tests in Prague, I knew I would have to prepare for it,” stated.

He was interested in the story from the first reading. “He hit me emotionally. Apart from the fact that I was looking forward to being able to continue the training process and be able to argue at home that I have to go to training because it’s my job. Because it actually involved me having to learn something new,” he admitted with a smile.

That meant wrestling on the ground. “And it was a big challenge for me in the sense that the character, in addition to being quite physically demanding, also deals with the emotional and mental gusts being very strong. Several things come together in this film. Perhaps several other characters that I have played so far. And I feel that with this film, in some way, a circle of a period is closing for me. But that’s because it was really a very significant period,” evaluated.
