The Court authorized this Tuesday (9) the mayor’s management () to take back possession of a
Judge Vanessa Velloso Silva Saad Picoli, from the 9th Public Finance Court, even authorized the use of police force to reintegrate and demolish the constructions and improvements made in the space, covering almost 15 thousand square meters. Eviction may occur at any time.
Picoli also orders the club to vacate the premises, “under penalty of forced eviction” and the charging of a daily fine, according to the decision published this Tuesday.
He took over the city hall in March, but Grêmio obtained an injunction blocking reinstatement in May.
Founded in 1958, Cruz da Esperança lamented on social media that it could suffer from demolition at any time and called on the community for a vigil.
Councilor Luna Zarattini (PT) filed a dossier on the history of Grêmio at Iphan (Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage) asking for measures to “safeguard capoeira and religions of African origin”. The councilor also shows that the place organizes events, including those of the Catholic church.
According to her, Cruz da Esperança has been promoting floodplain football games, samba-rock dances, samba circles, capoeira circles, various religious community activities, especially of African origin, and various social actions in Campo de Marte since the 1970s.
The area is part of the Campo de Marte Municipal Park project, created by a 2024 decree. The Nunes management says that the future park will have an area of 400 thousand m² and should serve around 300 thousand people.
The concession contract provides for an investment of R$202 million and includes five football fields, maintenance of the floodplain practice, as well as multi-use and community areas.
