Deputy said that Lula supporters should adapt language on social media and not respond to accusations
The federal deputy (Avante-MG) instructed supporters of the president (PT) to create a “version of facts” on social media during the pre-election period. The speech was made on Tuesday (June 9, 2026), in Brasília, at the PT’s Spokespersons of Lula and Brazil instrument aimed at organizing digital activism.
In the speech, Janones said supporters should avoid responding directly to accusations and fake news. According to him, the direct reaction expands the reach of the opposing message. The deputy stated that, in these cases, the best strategy is “divert focus” and present another narrative.
“Diverting the focus, people, is not lying. It’s telling another story with another vision”these.
According to the party, the project aims to bring together activists, political leaders, digital influencers, social movements and supporters of the Lula government. The initiative is part of the PT’s political mobilization and communication strategy in the pre-election period.
Janones mentioned as an example one with (PT-SC), (PCdoB-RJ) and (PSB-PE). According to him, the videos published by the group reached 30 million views, including all social networks.
The deputy declared that the reach did not only come from publicizing the mission, but from the way in which the trip was presented to the public. Said to have created a “history” before going to the United States and involving his followers in the narrative dispute against the senator (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for Planalto.
“It was much less the fact and much more the way it was told”he stated.
Janones said he does not seek to be “a good speaker”but “a good communicator”. According to him, political communication needs to use language understood by the public.
“A communicator is someone who speaks and people understand what he is saying. That’s what counts for me”he declared.
The deputy said that activists should produce their own content, instead of just republishing official videos of Lula. He said that the algorithm tends to reduce the delivery of repeated material and that each supporter’s personal statement carries more weight for their followers.
“Anyone who wants to know what Lula does follows his network. If I follow you, who has 500 followers, I want to know what you do”he declared.
Janones stated that Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok require different languages. For him, supporters must adapt the form of the message according to the audience and platform.
Elsewhere, the deputy said that government data and deliveries alone are not enough to win an election. “Reason doesn’t win elections. It never has and never will”he declared.
Afterwards, Janones stated that social networks will be decisive in the electoral dispute and defended the “coping” digital.
“It was very well said here that social networks are the streets of today, and we have to face it. Yes, it’s taking the president’s achievements, it’s taking what he did and going after the cattle, fighting it. I, personally, don’t care if they say it lowers the bar. I know what’s at stake. I know that what’s at stake is the democracy of this country. Before I said that, to save democracy, almost anything goes. I’ve changed my speech in these 4 years. Today, For me, anything goes to save the democracy of this country.”these.
At the end, Janones proposed a first action to the participants. He asked each supporter to send information cited by (PT-RJ) to 20 people about proof of payment involving the lawyer from (PL-SP) and Daniel Vorcaro, founder of Banco Master. The deputy called the action “test drive” is the platform.
