A Pentagon official stated this Saturday (13) that the death of the leader of the criminal organization of Venezuelan origin Tren de Aragua “sends a clear message to Latin America” about the commitment of President Donald Trump’s government to combat drug trafficking.
Niño Guerrero, head of Tren de Aragua, was killed in an American military operation in coordination with Venezuelan authorities, Washington and Caracas announced on Friday night (12).
“Niño Guerrero’s death sends a clear message to Latin America: there is no refuge for narco-terrorists in our hemisphere. The Department of War and the Anti-Cartel Coalition of the Americas (A3C) will continue to fulfill President Trump’s promise,” said this Saturday on X Patrick Weaver, deputy chief of staff to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
Founded in Venezuela, Tren de Aragua was designated a terrorist organization by the United States and also operates in Colombia, Peru and Chile.
Trump confirmed on Friday, on social media, that the United States Southern Command carried out a “quick and lethal” attack against the head of Tren de Aragua.
His message was accompanied by a 10-second video showing an aerial view of a building surrounded by vegetation before an explosion, which raises a cloud of smoke.
Venezuela confirmed shortly afterwards, on Friday, that Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, known as Niño Guerrero, had been “neutralized” and that there had been “confrontations” with members of “organized crime structures”.
