Bern – The Swiss will vote on Sunday on an upper limit for the population. The party with the largest number of voters, the SVP, wants to limit immigration. The population is to be capped at ten million inhabitants by 2050. Around 9.1 million people currently live in the Alpine country, including 340,000 Germans. If the initiative is accepted, the granting of asylum and family reunification would have to be restricted from 9.5 million inhabitants onwards.
