The United States and Iran reached an agreement to immediately end the war in the Middle East, including Lebanon, in a pact brokered by Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, meanwhile confirmed by the North American president, Donald Trump.

The understanding must be signed in Switzerland next Friday, the 19th, according to Sharif, and foresees the definitive cessation of military operations on all fronts.

In Tehran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadtold state television that the agreement brought “an immediate end to the war”.

The head of Iranian diplomacy, a specialist in Law, presented the outcome as an Iranian victorystating that “the enemy” that attacked the country saw its objectives frustrated and that the Islamic Republic achieved “great victories” in the conflict.

According to Sharif, now that the agreement is concluded, mediators will promote a series of meetings throughout the week. These meetings should prepare the application of the pactpaving the way for technical talks and preceding the official signing ceremony in Switzerland.

The precise terms of the agreement have not yet been officially released. He said, citing several sources, that the draft understanding envisaged reopening the strait, ending the North American naval blockade and prolonging the ceasefire, “leaving Iran’s nuclear program to be treated during a period of 60 days of additional conversations”.

Reuters adds that Israel said it was not a party to the agreement planned between Washington and Tehran.
