Algarve workers join the concentration against AR against labor package

The Union of Unions of the Algarve/CGTP-IN announced that Algarve workers will join the concentration scheduled for this Wednesday, June 18, in front of the Assembly of the Republic, in protest against the labor package that will be debated in general.

According to the union structure, the Government decided to move forward with the parliamentary debate without waiting for the mandatory 30 days of public discussion of the document, considering that there is a rush to respond to the employers’ demands.

For the Union of Unions of the Algarve/CGTP-IN, this labor package represents “a declaration of war on the workers of Portugal”, justifying a firm response from workers, including those from the Algarve, during the afternoon when the debate will take place in the Assembly of the Republic.

Algarve rejects further exploitation and inequalities

The union structure emphasizes that workers in the Algarve participate in this initiative “in a strong position of rejecting further exploitation, injustice and social inequalities”.

The União dos Sindicatos do Algarve/CGTP-IN argues that the country needs a policy that values work, through increased wages and pensions, the end of precariousness, particularly among young people, the regulation of working hours and the defense of collective bargaining.

Among the priorities highlighted are also the consecration of the most favorable principle for workers, respect for parental rights, the strengthening of public services and social functions of the State, as well as the constitutional right of access to housing.

Unions demand rejection of the package in the Assembly of the Republic

The União dos Sindicatos do Algarve/CGTP-IN states that workers do not accept what it classifies as a “civilizational setback” and guarantees that, through struggle, they will continue to demand better living conditions and a different direction for the country.

The union structure argues that the labor package must be unequivocally rejected in the Assembly of the Republic, considering that a vote against is required.

For , “any attempt to lower him to the specialty without voting” must also be rejected, as he understands that abstention would mean allowing the advancement of changes in labor legislation widely contested by workers and society.
