President visited 10 countries until June; agenda included meeting with Trump in the USA and participation in the G7 summit in France
The president (PT) accumulates 20 days outside Brazil in 2026. To date, he has made 6 international trips and visited 10 countries, according to a survey by the Poder360.
The most recent trip was to France, to participate in the . Lula traveled on June 15th and arrived in Brazil on June 18th. During the meeting, he met with other presidents and representatives of the European Union. In his speeches, he criticized protectionist measures, defended the strengthening of multilateralism, demanded more investments from rich countries in developing nations and did so again.
The president’s only trip to the United States in 2026 was made in May. Lula was in the country on the 6th and 7th for a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump (Republican Party). The meeting took place amid negotiations between Brasília and Washington over trade tariffs and barriers imposed on Brazilian products.
At the G7 summit, there was the expectation that the two could meet again to discuss the new 25% tariffs and the classification of the CV (Comando Vermelho) and the PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) as terrorist organizations. .
On Wednesday (June 17), the PT member stated that a bilateral meeting is unnecessary until the end of the ongoing negotiations between the economic teams of the two nations. “When the negotiations are over, if nothing comes of it, I have no problem picking up the phone and calling Trump again and setting up a new conversation”he told journalists.
