Testimony was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the STF, and will be taken via videoconference
The PCDF (Civil Police of the Federal District) will hear the former president (PL) next Wednesday (June 24, 2026) about the case of the seized firearm, as reported by journalist Mariana Muniz, from the newspaper The Globe. The testimony will be taken via videoconference and was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, this Thursday (June 18, 2026).
The seizure occurred during a police blockade in Pitão Norte, in Brasília, on Monday (June 15). At the time, the weapon was carried by Estácio Leite da Silva, a soldier from the GSI (Institutional Security Office) who works in Bolsonaro’s security.
In the request sent to the minister, the PCDF requests a video conference with the former president to collect information.
On Tuesday (June 16), Moraes had determined that the former president’s defense regarding the pistol would take up to 24 hours. The lawyers responded formally the following day. They said that the former president had asked the Army’s second sergeant to carry out maintenance.
The lawyers justified the malfunction by explaining that the former president’s security team had removed a piece of weapons, without his knowledge, to prevent shots being fired. According to the defense, the measure was taken because the former president is taking psychiatric medication “capable of affecting your cognition”. Upon noticing that the pistol was failing, Bolsonaro asked for it to be repaired.
