The national PSDB put the brakes on the efforts of São Paulo toucans to support the re-election of the party and says that the decision will be taken later, taking into account the party’s strategy for the entire country.
The message was given after the former mayor of Santo André did not run for governor of São Paulo. Behind the scenes, state toucans are negotiating to support Tarcísio and participate in his management in some capacity.

According to him, the final decision on supporting candidates for majority positions in all states will be made by the national command of the federation formed by PSDB and Cidadania – which is chaired by Aécio himself. The directive was given by a resolution approved by the Tucana National Executive in April.
“Defining support in majority coalitions depends on the decision of the national federation”, says Aécio.
According to him, this will be done through dialogue with regional leaders. “We will do this by talking, obviously, with local leaders, with the president of the state federation, Alex Manente. In the coming weeks, we will make decisions involving São Paulo and other Brazilian states”, added the president of Tucano.
