President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) should take advantage of his visit to the capital of São Paulo this week to meet with allies and forward the PT ticket in the state. On Tuesday (23), the agent takes part in the delivery of new equipment to a hospital in the east zone of São Paulo.
The uncertainty in the state concerns the names to be chosen to compete for seats in the Federal Senate. Former ministers, and Márcio França (PSB) present pre-candidacies for the Upper House.
The preference of PT members in the state is to launch Simone Tebet and Marina Silva – who appear as more competitive names in polls analyzed internally, according to reports from sources. Márcio França, however, is a figure of great influence in the São Paulo PSB and comes “tapping your foot” for his pre-candidacy.
PT members estimate that only a direct decision by Lula will resolve the impasse. The president’s preference, according to leaders close to the president, would also be for the composition with Tebet and Marina.
One of the options already discussed would be for France to take over as vice-president of , who is running for Palácio dos Bandeirantes. So far, the former minister and the PSB have not signaled that the nod would be enough.
The consensus among government officials is that the decision needs to be taken soon. The assessment is that the delay harms the campaigns, since the right has already defined their names, with and Guilherme Derrite (PP)coming out ahead in the search for votes.
