Three people, including the alleged attacker, were killed in a shooting in a Jewish neighborhood in the Canadian city of Montreal on Monday, Canadian police said. TASR informs about it according to a report by the AFP agency and the news site CTV News.
“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the death of one of our police officers in the line of duty,” Montreal police said in a statement posted on the X platform. Another police officer was seriously injured and is in critical condition.
Police officers were called to the crime scene at the corner of Courtrai and Trans Island streets at 11:35 a.m. local time. It is an area with kosher restaurants and supermarkets frequented by Montreal’s large Jewish community. Police have urged residents to avoid the area.
