French police found a stolen painting by Pablo Picasso during a drug bust at a house in Champigny-sur-Marn.
According to information obtained by AFPthe piece would have been stolen from a storage warehouse in Paris, while the house inspected was said to belong to the aunt of the drug dealer being investigated.
The work of art, a portrait of Marie-Thérèse Walter, valued between 12 and 13 million euros, approximately R$76.8 million, underwent an identification process that confirmed its authenticity.
The work belonged to a Singaporean woman and was allegedly stolen by an employee from the warehouse where it was stored. He was arrested alongside three other people involved in the operation.
After the preliminary hearing, a trial was scheduled for August this year. To the police, the man admitted to having removed the painting from the warehouse to demonstrate the company’s security failures.
