Proposal for chemical castration defended by Flávio stalls – 06/22/2026 – Panel

which is defended by the presidential candidate (), was the subject of more than a dozen projects by deputies and senators in recent years.

Some were archived and others were attached to related matters. Currently, eight projects on the subject are being processed in the Chamber and in the , but they are stalled and are not expected to be approved this year.

The oldest text is from 2010, written by then deputy Paes de Lira (PTC-SP) and today reported by deputy Captain Alberto Neto (PL-AM). last year and still depends on approval from the plenary.

All projects propose a “chemical hormonal treatment to contain libido in a custodial hospital” for those convicted of sexual crimes, popularly known as chemical castration.

The topic was mentioned in the presentation of Flávio’s security plan.

Of the eight projects in progress, most have not been progressing for months or years. Two advanced in at least one of the Houses of .

One from 2019, proposed by senator Styvenson Valentim (Podemos-RN), and has been in the Chamber’s Health Committee since 2024. The rapporteur is deputy Padre João (-MG).

In 2020, another project of the same content was presented in the Chamber by then deputy Aluisio Mendes (Republicanos-MA). The text was approved four years later and is now in the Senate Human Rights Committee, under the rapporteur of Senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES).

None of the projects shows signs of being approved, especially in an election year. The two at a more advanced stage do not have consensus in the House and should not receive a favorable report from PT parliamentarians.
