France’s lower house approves autonomy plans for Corsica


Paris/Ajaccio (Corsica) – The French National Assembly has approved Corsica’s request for more autonomy. In the first reading, 271 MPs supported a corresponding constitutional reform, 202 voted against and 64 abstained. Before the Mediterranean island can actually get more freedom from Paris, several hurdles still have to be overcome.
