President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated this Tuesday (23) that he did not run for President of the Republic to allocate initiatives to the richest. In an electoral speech aimed at people with lower incomes, the president stated that those who need the federal government are the poor and the middle class.
“I didn’t run for president of the Republic to do things for the rich, the rich don’t need the government. Those who need the government are humble people, the middle class and workers from all professional categories”, declared the president during the inauguration of a section of the Presidente Dutra Highway, in Rio de Janeiro.
As usual on agendas across the country, Lula said that it was the PT governments that provided more investments for the States, in this case, for Rio de Janeiro. “I would like you to research to find out if, in the history of the Republic, there was a president who put more money into Rio de Janeiro than me and Dilma Rousseff. (…) I doubt that any governor has received more help from any president than they received during the Lula and Dilma governments”, he declared.
Lula inaugurated this Tuesday, the first stage of works on the stretch of the Presidente Dutra Highway in Serra das Araras, in Rio de Janeiro. Four kilometers of climbing track were launched. The total investment is R$1.5 billion.
