Just four days after the disaster at the Kanianka water reservoir in the Prievidza district, another sad news hit the Trenčín Region. During the early evening of Tuesday, a tragic event occurred at the Prusy water reservoir in the district of Bánovce nad Bebravou. A 46-year-old man lost his life there. The police informs about it on the social network.
According to the findings so far, two men aged 46 and 56 went to the dam to bathe together. However, the younger one of them dived under the surface while swimming and did not emerge again. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene and began searching for him. During the rescue operation, the man was found, but, unfortunately, without signs of life.
The attending doctor who was summoned on the spot has preliminarily ruled out someone else’s fault, and the exact cause of death will be determined only by the ordered autopsy. The authorized member of the District Department of the Bánovce nad Bebravou Police Force has already started a criminal prosecution for the crime of manslaughter in this regard.
In connection with these events, the police once again strongly appeals to the public not to underestimate the risks associated with being near the water during the summer season. The most important rule remains not to enter the water under the influence of alcohol or other narcotic and psychotropic substances. A responsible approach and strict adherence to safety principles can prevent similar tragedies and save the most valuable thing, which is human life.
