The Arabica coffee harvest reached 20.1% of the productive area served by the largest cooperative in Brazil, Cooxupé. The survey up to June 19 showed an increase of four percentage points compared to last week, when field work reached 16% of the coffee plantations.

The data comes from the weekly survey released by the entity. Currently, the cooperative’s area of activity covers more than 370 municipalities located in the South of Minas, Cerrado Mineiro, Matas de Minas and Médio Mogiana in São Paulo.

Among the regions monitored, Matas de Minas showed the greatest progress in work, with 25% of the crop already harvested, followed by Sul de Minas, with 24.5%, and the Médio Mogiana region, in São Paulo, with 23.9%. In Cerrado Mineiro, the harvest reached 11.7% of production.

In total, there are 22 thousand cooperative coffee growers. It is a thermometer for the market as it is the largest coffee growers’ cooperative in the country and an important reference for the evolution of the Brazilian coffee harvest.

Specialty coffees

In the area of another Minas Gerais cooperative, Expocacer (Cooperativa dos Cafeicultores do Cerrado (Expocacer), the Arabica coffee harvest reached 18% between June 13 and 18. The rains of the last few days hampered field work.

“From June 13th to 18th, 32.8 millimeters were recorded, a volume of precipitation that impacted harvesting operations on several properties, causing wetting of the terraces, interruptions in field activities and delays in the coffee drying process”, points out the Expocacer bulletin.

The entity is mainly responsible for and forecasts a harvest of 2.86 million 60 kg bags in 2026.

Although changes may affect the quality of some batches of coffee due to humidity, Expocacer technicians reported that the scenario remains “positive for coffee production in the Cerrado Mineiro”.
